Warhammer 40K Club – Black Legion v Dark Angels battle report

After posting yesterday about my recent battle with the Dark Eldar I realised that I hadn’t actually posted the battle report for Round 2 of the tournament and my defeat at the hands of my long term opponent and his Dark Angel space marines. So gather round boys, we’ll throw another loyalist on the fire while I regale you with the tale.

The Dark Angels get the first turn. The ravenwing roar across the board and the landraider disgorges Azrael and his retinue.

My "Men of Mayhem" terminator squad seem to have disappeared along with half my bikes.

Chaos Lord Clay Morrow charges into the ravening, Azraels retinue takes a kicking and my last biker tries to flee. Sorceror Hunsa, having been wounded by Ravening fire proceeds to fail his first psychic test, suffering a second wound and being sucked into the warp.

Squad Tiggs and Piney the Defiler manage to remove a hull point each from the landraider but its too little too late.

While the commanders slug it out the veterans capture one of the mission objectives.

Finally the Havocs manage to destroy the landraider...

...but its only Lord Morrow, a pair of Havocs, and a single member of squad Tiggs that limp aware from the field of battle.

In hindsight my deployment doomed me from the start, spread too far across the board and majority of my infantry out in the open. In my defence though the bloody jink rule on the Ravenwing saved their necks more often than not. For an army choice based upon characters from a TV show about a motorcycle gang to be “out-biked” was an embarrasment. But as this was only my second battle using the new 6th edition rules I didnt feel too badly, facing the forces of Imperial Space Marines was never going to be easy…..next time there will be a reckoning!!
